Background

Devatop Centre for Africa Development (DEVATOP) is a human rights organization whose aim is to work with local, national, and global partners to address human rights abuses through technology, capacity building, advocacy, research, and sustainable interventions.

Through its tech-driven initiative known as TALKAM, DEVATOP is accelerating citizen-led reportage and actions against human rights abuses in Africa.

In Nigeria, there have been various incidents of human rights abuses and violations, which call for active citizen involvement in addressing these issues. Citizens play a crucial role in combating and preventing human rights abuses, including electoral violences.

The TALKAM Human Rights App, a civic tech tool, is designed to foster community action towards monitoring and reporting human rights abuses. It also enables citizens to take strategic actions to promote and protect their rights and those of their community members. With the TALKAM Human Rights App, citizens can report abuses, track responses to cases, ensure accountability in handling these cases, learn about their rights, and perform other relevant functions. 

 

This solicitation requests the expertise of an experienced consultant to Develop an online course on The Role of Citizens in Promoting Human Rights and Upholding Social Justice. 

 

Scope of Work/Deliverables: 

Develop content( not more than 13 pages) for an online course titled: “The Role of Citizens in Promoting Human Rights and Upholding Social Justice”.  This course will be integrated in the TALKAM App Online Course to educate citizens across the six geo-political zones about their roles in promoting human rights.

Details of the Online Course:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Human Rights and Social Justice
  • Module 2: Identifying Human Rights Abuses and Social Injustices
  • Module 3: The TALKAM App: A Tool for Promoting Human Rights
  • Module 4: Civic Engagement and Advocacy
  • Each of the modules will have at least 3 lessons and close-ended assessment questions with correct answers. 
  • The course content should be formatted for online users. See sample here: https://www.talkam.app/course
  • The course content should come with a maximum of 100 words of learning outcome for each modules
  • The course content should come with references. 
  • The course content should be in simplified English.

Requirements

The consultant to be contracted is expected to meet the following criteria:

  • For Registered Company 
  • Certificate of registration/incorporation and/or similar evidence of company
    registration issued by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria.
  • Certified true copies of Memorandum and Article of Association of the company (Statement of share capital and return of allotment) and particulars of Directors and/or similar statutory documents indicating ownership structure of company, name(s) of directors, major shareholders and percentage shareholding.
  • Detailed company profile with full details of company’s resume demonstrating
    company’s capabilities.
  • Submit a tender application letter (on bidder’s letter headed paper) including name of authorized contact person (s), company full address, Email address and Telephone
  • Company tax clearance certificate for the last three (3) years
  • Pension Clearance Certificate
  • Audited Accounts for the past three (3) years which must bear the stamp of the Audit Firm.
  • Evidence of verifiable similar services carried out within the last five years.
  • For Independent Contractors
  • CV and Portfolio (where applicable)
  • Tax identification number (TIN)
  • Contact Information (Address, Phone Number, Email etc)
  • References (Where applicable)
  • A government issued ID (NIN, Voters Card, Driver’s License, International Passport, Work Permit)
  • Personal Bank Detail

Quote Criteria/Payment Schedule 

  • Quotes must be submitted in Naira, as payment(s) to contracted consultant will be made in this currency.
  • Please note that DEVATOP will deduct and remit to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) a 5% or 10% withholding Tax from the total consultancy fees for individuals or organizations in accordance with the Nigerian Tax Law.

  • Reference letters from 2 individuals/organizations you have working relationship with, and can speak on your capacity (sent as annex to the application)

 

N/B: The application should be maximum of 4 A4-sized pages, excluding annexes.
